Workflow and case management
Responding to comprehensive changes in UK regulatory legislation, the Office for Product Safety and Standards needed to replace the Primary Authority Register (PAR) with an online service that businesses and local authorities use to manage regulatory compliance, and enforcement notifications.
Working in partnership with the Office for Product Safety and Standards at BEIS, Longhorn Consulting led a cross-functional development team to deliver the new Primary Authority Register.
Having successfully delivered a prototype in the alpha phase, Longhorn Consulting was invited to plan and prioritise development in the beta phase of the project. In the beta phase, Longhorn mobilised and led the team that developed the new Primary Authority Register. Using agile project management, we were able to rebuild and go live in 3 months by utilising a mix of off the shelf and custom functionality.
In preparation for a range of possible Brexit scenarios, government agencies across the UK are implementing digital services that provide vital support to UK businesses during the transition. The Marine Management Organisation is one such agency with a broad remit that includes marine planning and licensing, and fisheries management, including monitoring and enforcement.
Longhorn Consulting collaborated with a team of consultants and developers to prototype and build interactive user journeys, and to identify and de-risk key technical factors that determine how the service is built and delivered as we approach Brexit.
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the official government agency responsible for intellectual property rights in the UK. As part of its mission to help businesses and individuals better understand patents, designs, trade marks and copyright, the IPO delivers face to face intellectual property masterclasses. The uptake of these sessions is high, and the IPO wanted a digital solution that would allow them to reach a larger audience and make learning materials more easily accessible.
Longhorn Consulting undertook the development of a digital service to deliver masterclasses online. Minimising cost and delivery time, Longhorn developed a series of interactive courses powered by IPO’s existing open source content management system (CMS); extending the CMS to deliver new capabilities in content creation.
With the IP Masterclass service delivered successfully, Longhorn was invited to expand on the concept and build a more comprehensive series of courses, collectively known as IP Tutor, and aimed at university audiences and higher learning organisations. Further integration with the IPO’s content management system enabled their technical teams to take on support and maintenance roles with minimal training.
The Home Office sought to bring together specialist suppliers to develop the next-generation of platforms and services to replace large and disparate legacy systems which had become difficult to operate.
Longhorn Consulting led the front-end development effort, delivering a common user interface (UI) for the Immigration Platform Technologies programme at the Home Office. Longhorn Consulting worked in collaboration with multiple product teams to deliver well tested, responsive user interfaces and components to GDS design standards.
We leveraged modern rapid prototyping technologies, empowering product teams to engage users and stakeholders, and trialling fully functioning features and user journeys—often months in advance of planned development.
